Bitumen is a dark and viscous liquid with the appearance similar to wax. It is a mixture of solid and semi solid Hydrocarbon which is derived from Coal and oil. Iran is one of the tippets exporters of this product and the most exported grade is on (40/60) which is always in high demand. Bitumen price differs base on its quality and impurity.
There are different types of Bitumen with different impurity grade and the purest ones have higher price.
Bitumen is widely used in chemical and petrochemical industries Its thermal stability property makes it suitable for insulation in oil and gas tanks. It can be used in asphalt pavement construction, coating, to corrosion protection, also in production of some specific fuel and different types of industrial products such as Tar and sealant.
Bitumen is used as a base for polymer and plastic to provide corrosion protection. In some plastic products its high stability character plays a crucial role in enhancing stability of plastic products. Also due to its adhesive properties it can be used in production of different types of Flooring.

Bitumen can be used as a cleansing agent in detergent formula. But it may be incompatible with other detergent compounds due to its hydrocarbon structure. It can be applied in some laboratories research techniques for investigating detergent properties.
Due to its stability, thermal stability and corrosion protection properties it can be used as a base for paint (Particularly industrial and heat-resistance), industrial coating (with high stability and corrosion protection), resins and construction and industrial adhesives production.it can be applied in ink production as a lubricant too.
Bitumen has limited application in food industries including thermal insulation in food preserving container. Food enamels is the very epitome of it. It can also be applied in food packaging paper and food drying process as a thermal insulation.
Bitumen can create suitable surface with soil to prevent water-loss. It is also applied in pesticides and trap insects in farms.
Inhalation of toxic vapor can be hazardous due to its toxic potential. Proper ventilation should be provided also PVC gloves and mask. should be used when exposure.
